Christ In You
What if the name you’ve lived under isn’t the one God has spoken over you?
Christ in You, the Hope of Glory
“The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
—Colossians 1:26–27 ESV
God not only enters our lives—He lives within us.
The Israelites saw Christ foreshadowed in a branch tossed into bitter water, but we get something far more intimate. The Healer has made His home in us. And when Christ dwells in us, our identity changes.
A New Name
All through Scripture, God gives people new names when He reveals who they truly are. Abram became Abraham. Jacob became Israel. Simon became Peter.
And He still names His children today.
When I was at Bible school, I asked God a heart-wrenching question in my journal: “Is there joy ahead?”
A moment later, my roommate came into the room, toothbrush still in hand, and said, “Edenjoy!” God had dropped the word in her heart for me, and she had to share it. Hours later, Andrew, the man who would one day become my husband, sent me an email calling me “Edenjoy,” too.
God was answering me clearly: Joy is your new name.
For years, I had been known as the one in my family who cried most easily, but God renamed me with joy. And in doing so, He revealed who I truly am in Him.
Christ Alive in Us
This is the mystery Paul described: Christ in you, the hope of glory.
It isn’t just my story—it’s an inheritance for all of us.
When we pour out our hearts to God and ask Him our questions, He reveals Himself. He tells us who He is, and He tells us who we are. His revelations change everything.
What lesser names or labels have you been living under? What would it mean for you to live from the name and identity God has spoken over you?
An Invitation to Journal
When I open my journal and Bible, I get to talk to and encounter God—not just myself. Those conversations bring healing to my heart and eventually overflow into the world around me.
Here are some prompts you can take into your own journal this week:
Where is God revealing Himself to me right now?
How is He showing me who I am in Him?
What “new name” has He spoken over me?
How does the truth of Christ alive in me change my circumstances today?
I’ve been enjoying Ed Rush’s book God Talks. I’m learning and relearning to replace the lies I’ve accumulated and am living from with the life-giving truth. This entry from ch 3 of my book shared a time God met me in a moment of uncertainty and revealed to me a glimpse of my identity in Him. How is Christ’ presence within you affecting you and making all things new in you? I’m cheering for you!
Hoping to post a current story of God’s faithfulness here soon.

Thanks for the reminder to remember to live my own God-given identity/name!
Thank you Eden for sharing this clip….i needed to be reminded of my “new” name in Christ today!
